A. Ignore petty disagreements.
1. Prov. 19:11 “The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.”
2. Prov. 17:14 “The beginning of strife is as when one letteth out water: therefore leave off contention, before it be meddled with.”
3. It is pride that leads you to contend anyway. Prov. 13:10a “Only by pride cometh contention.”
B. Identify anger prone people and avoid them.
1. Prov. 22:24, 25 “24 Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go: 25 Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul.”
2. You will become like those you are around. Be careful of “talk radio”.
C. Impede your tongue when angry.
1. Prov. 15:1 “A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.”
2. Prov. 21:23 “Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.”
3. Learn how to listen without stating your opinion.
D. Intercede with others who are angry with you.
1. Prov. 21:14 “A gift in secret pacifieth anger: and a reward in the bosom strong wrath.”
2. Give your gifts in a way that cannot be traced to you.
E. Investigate your anger.
1. Prov. 19:11 “The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.”
2. I cite the case of Joseph and Mary. Joseph thought the whole thing over before he acted. He had the right to have her stoned to death.
F. Intercept your anger.
1. Prov. 30:33 “Surely the churning of milk bringeth forth butter, and the wringing of the nose bringeth forth blood: so the forcing of wrath bringeth forth strife.”
2. Don’t let your anger create anger. You may not like the results.

This is a great post from God’s Word by Dr. Paul Chappell

“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.”

Psalm 1:1

One day a farmer grabbed his shot gun to shoot at a flock of pesky crows. Unfortunately, he didn’t see his sociable parrot that had joined the crows. After firing a few shots, he walked over to the fallen birds and was surprised to find his parrot badly ruffled with a broken wing. When the farmer’s children saw the injured bird, they asked, “Dad, what happened?” The farmer simply replied, “Bad company.”

Scripture often warns us to avoid harmful influences. Regardless of our age or spiritual strength, over time, unwise influences will negatively affect our walk with the Lord. Satan is determined to pull us into sin and wreck our lives, and he often uses wrong influences to accomplish his goal.

As Christians, we must stay near to God in order to discern between good and bad influences in our lives. As we remain sensitive to the Holy Spirit and obey God’s Word, God will help us to recognize bad influences and remove them from our lives.

Perhaps you have a friend who constantly encourages you to sin, or maybe your own flesh pulls you to make sinful choices. Whatever the case, determine to avoid those people, places, or situations that bring you further from the Lord. Much temptation can be avoided if we will simply walk with the Lord and with those who love Him. Satan’s fiery darts are no match for our God; so stay close to the One Who protects you.

Ask God to help you remove bad influences in your life and to be sensitive to the direction of the Holy Spirit. Staying close to God is the safest and happiest place you can be.

Has anyone ever argued with you that Jesus was a wine/alcohol drinker? Here are some specific reasons to dispute that from the Bible.
1. Jesus was holy. Heb. 7:26 “For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;” Jesus has never and will never do a unholy thing.
2. Jesus would never contradict Scripture. Matt. 5:17-18 “17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.” Jesus is the Word and would not do anything against the Word.
3. Jesus as the priest of God was forbidden to drink wine or strong drink. Lev. 10:9-11 “9 Do not drink wine nor strong drink, thou, nor thy sons with thee, when ye go into the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations: 10 And that ye may put difference between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean;” His office of Priesthood is verified in Heb. 2:17 “… that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.”
4. Jesus as King was forbidden to drink strong drink. Prov. 31:4,5 “it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink: 5 Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.” Jesus is the King of Kings and the Prince of Peace.
5. Jesus as the only wise God would not be deceived. Prov. 20:1 “Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: And whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.” Paul tells us this in I Tim. 1:17, “Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.”
