Discipline Policy

At FH@MV our Jr. Church mission is best stated in Proverbs 22:6. Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Our sole guide to this process is God’s Word. With a biblical approach to the rearing of a child, you will find that it is impossible to train up a child without proper discipline. Discipline is best defined as the education of a person’s character and is beneficial for the nurturing, training, instruction, chastisement, teaching and encouragement of your child. With these thoughts in mind, I am writing to you to make aware the upcoming changes for our Jr. Church discipline policy. Our new discipline policy will begin on November 13, 2011 and will be conducted as follows:

1. Warning notice – A warning notice can be issued to your child by Jr. Church teachers or Sunday school teachers. The written warning will state that your child must correct his or her actions prior to returning the following week for church. The warning notice will be given directly to you by your child’s bus captain, as well as, a further explanation of the warning notice.

2. 2nd Discipline Notice – After the initial warning notice has been issued, no more warnings will be given. The first corrective action that will be taken after the warning notice is one Sunday suspension. If your child is given this notice, he or she may not return the following week to church unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.

3. 3rd Discipline Notice – After the initial warning and the 2nd discipline notice we will issue a 3rd and final discipline notice. If this notice is issued, your child has been terminated from our bus and Jr. Church programs for 1 year (365 days) from the date of termination. This notice will be given to you with a copy of all disciplinary actions taken against your child.

We have created these disciplinary steps in order to bring security, produce character, and prepare your child for a successful life. Discipline, although tough at times, is the direct evidence of the love that we have for each and every child that we serve and a direct picture of the same love that God has for each of us (Hebrews 12:7-9). Discipline is essential in the process of training up a child in the way that God wants them to go.
